Margherita Fanton


Margherita Fanton was born in Bologna in 1993. She began studying the violin at the age of six with Fiorenza Rosi using the Suzuki method. In 2004 she joined the viola class of M° Antonello Farulliat the G.B.MartiniConservatory in Bologna, in 2012 she graduated with top marks and honours. Thenshecontinuedherstudies in viola and chamber music at the International Academy of Imola and the Music School of Fiesole always under the guidance of M°Farulli. At the same time, she attended masterclasses with D.Rossi, D. Waskiewicz, N. Imai, J. Kussmaul, A. Viytovych, T. Selditz and S. Briatore.
Sheapproachedchamber music when at 12 she founded the Quartetto Prestissimo, with whom she participated in many masterclasses, the last one was with CuartetoCasals. It was a relatively short experience (about5years), but a very important one. In 2018 she founded the Quartetto Eilat, with which she followed specialization courses at “Accademia Europea del Quartetto” in the Music School of Fiesole, in Portogruaro with Trio di Parma and in Pinerolo with L. Hagen.

Winner of variuscompetitions, includingthe Rassegna Nazionale d’Archi “Mario Benvenuti” of Vittorio Veneto in 2008, shealsogetstwice (2010-2011) the “Premio Zucchelli”scholarship from the Zucchelli Foundation in Bologna.

Herorchestralcareerbegan in 2009 at the Academy of the Mozart Orchestra in Bologna; since 2012 shecollaborates with Orchestra Mozart under the direction of Claudio Abbado and Bernard Haithink. Shewas first viola of Orchestra da camera di Imola, also under the wand of V. Ashkenazy. Shecollaborates with the Orchestra “Leonore”, the Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale of Bologna and Orchestra del Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari.
In 2013 she won the audition for “viola tutti” at the Orchestra del Gran Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, she became a permanent member(2013-2019), in 2016 she also played as “first viola” under the direction of Inbal, Wellber e Chung.
In 2019 she won in second place the audition for “co-principal viola” at the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma, where she currently plays as a “viola tutti” fixed member.
