ALAIN MEUNIER
Alain Meunier did his musical studies at the Paris Conservatoire (four first prizes), his chometown. Since then, he has led a particularly rich and independent artistic life around the world, favouring the repertoire of chamber music. Being very involved in the premiere performances of works fof his time, a large number of cello works are dedicated to him or he is the first performer of. He has been a member of the Chigiano Quintet and Sextet, the Quatuor Ivaldi, and the Trio Europa, with whom he has made a rich discography. His integral recordings of Bach’s Suites, made 20 years apart, have been unanimously praised by the press, as well as by his colleagues from all over the world. He is an honorary professor at the Conservatoires Nationaux Supérieurs in Lyon and Paris, and has also taught at many European institutions.
He is currently chairman of the board of the Pôle Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Bordeaux-Aquitaine and co-directs the Fêtes Musicales d’Aubrac. In 2016, he was appointed artistic director of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
Among his latest recordings: Complete Beethoven sonatas for piano and cello, the sonatas of G. Fauré, Honegger, Debussy always with pianist Anne Le Bozec.
