Violinist Silvia Borghese wins at the Emilia and Elsa Gubitosi International Competition
Violinist Silvia Borghese wins first prize at the International Competition named after Emilia and Elsa Gubitosi.
Silvia Borghese is attending the Violin Master’s Degree course at Accademia di Imola, in Boris Belkin’s class.
The prize was established by Fondazione F. M. Napolitano ‘in order to valorise young musical talents, stimulate the exchange of artistic experiences and promote the territory culturally’, to commemorate the figure of the great pianist and composer Emilia Gubitosi and her sister Elsa Gubitosi, a distinguished violinist. Emilia Gubitosi, a teacher at Conservatorio di S. Pietro a Majella and choirmaster at Teatro S. Carlo, set up the Fondazione Napolitano in the 1960s to honour the memory of her husband, Maestro Franco Michele Napolitano, a well-known organist and conductor, as well as founder of the ‘Scarlatti’ orchestra.
The commission in charge of evaluating winners and giving prizes and scholarships was made up of Anna Tifu (president), Jielin Cai, Maurizio Pietrantonio, Riccardo Zamuner and Edoardo Zosi.
