Sandro Nebieridze second prize at Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competion in Bolzano

The didactic activity of Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola “Incontri con il Maestro” has been awarded with a new prestigious prize: Sandro Nebieridze, a student of the Piano Academy, won the second prize at Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competion in Bolzano, one among the most important piano competitions, with such guests as Alfred Brendel, Martha Argerich, Richard Goode, Radu Lupu, Kristian Zimerman, Grigory Sokolov and Bruno Monsaingeon.
The Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition wanted to create a meeting point between renowned pianists and new talents. The international role of this competition is strengthened by new performance layouts, free-access workshops, film projections and co-production projects shared with other cultural institutions. Future talents are thereby offered fresh perspectives in different ways.
Sandro Nebieridze has been awarded by major Asiatic and European piano competitions.
His work as a composer has been praised both nationally and internationally, with his pieces debuting on prestigious stages as Konzerthaus in Berlino and Tsinandali Amphitheatre. His debut album, featuring Rachmaninov and Prokofiev solistic composition, was released worldwide by Harmonia Mundi in September 2019. Not only has this album received the Tsinandali prize, but it was also nominated for Opus Klassik 2020. Since 2021, when he started being supported by Lisa Batiashvili Foundation, Sandro has participated in several tours. Also, he has collaborated with renowned orchestras, performing as a soloist in Czech Republic, Norway and Germany, other than having taken Lang-Lang’s place last minute.
