Konstantin Emelyanov and Josef Mossali win at the Sergio Fiorentino Piano Competition
Extraordinary recognition for the students of the Fondazione Accademia di Imola in Novara, where the Sergio Fiorentino Piano Competition awarded first and second prize respectively to students Konstantin Emelyanov and Josef Mossali. The award ceremony was held on 28 September at the Auditorium f.lli Olivieri of the Collegio Gallarini in Novara.
The prize commemorates the figure of Sergio Fiorentino, a Neapolitan pianist and student of Luigi Finizio at the Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella. After a promising start, compared to Sergei Rachmaninov for his interpretative expertise by some critics, Fiorentino was forced to abandon his concert career, due to a plane accident, and he resumed it only late in life, in the 1990s, still enjoying great success in Europe and the United States.
