Gioia Gurioli awarded for ‘Golpe De Agua
The one-month long period of students of the Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola being awarded seems not to be stopping.
The 2024-2025 academic year opens with another prize: Gioia Gurioli, a student of the composition course, was awarded at the 15th Puerto Rico Film Festival as author of the soundtrack for ‘Golpe De Agua’, which won the prize for best national documentary.
‘I had the opportunity to compose and realise the soundtrack for ‘Golpe de agua’,’ says Gioia Gurioli, ’a documentary written and directed by the Italian-Puerto Rican director Carla Cavina. The film offers a touching testimony of the devastating effects of climate change, focusing on Hurricane Maria that hit Puerto Rico in 2017, a particularly significant theme for me, given the affinity with the recent floods that hit my land, Emilia Romagna’.
‘The music was masterfully performed by Michele Fontana on bass clarinet and I took care of the post-production process, by integrating the electronic part,’ Gurioli concludes.
